East Coast Soul Wedding Performance at
East Coast Soul was asked to perform at a private residence in Westerly RI for the beautiful wedding of Tyler and Maggie in June of 2016. The groom was able to check out a recent performance of ours at the UMass Block Party, and was excited about moving forward with the band. We were excited to return to Westerly, where we've performed at a number of private residence weddings in the past. It's a beautiful area!
For the bride and groom's ceremony, East Coast Soul was asked to provide ceremony sound support in the form of microphones and speakers. This is common, and something we're happy to take part in. Also, as is often the case, East Coast Soul was also asked to provide cocktail hour music. We suggested what has become our most popular cocktail hour option, our jazz duo of guitar and saxophone. We love jazz, and always appreciate the opportunity to set a classy mood for any reception. Our musicians blazed through an hour set of Chick Corea, Dexter Gordon, Wayne Shorter, and more. When that was finished, the wedding was ready to move to the reception portion of the evening.
Our performances often start with older material. We've found this is a great way to get folks up on the dance floor with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Sam and Dave, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then moved into performing music by artists like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with. Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
