A heartwarming August wedding at the Private Residence in Mattapoisett, MA where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble absolutely brought the house down!
East Coast Soul was grateful to be invited to join Abby & Josh for their stunning Private Residence Wedding in Mattapoisett, MA.
Preprations for Abby & Josh's Big Day
Our planning for the wedding day began many weeks prior, with Abby & Josh expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the wedding day (preparation is a key part of our process). Abby & Josh were heavily involved in this advanced planning and a huge asset throughout.
Once the wedding day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Mattapoisett, MA and took care of the normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Private Residence weddings. We get a lot of questions about the logistics of loading in to any given venue. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is common, East Coast Soul was asked to provide cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to relax after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We contribute by providing a variety of relaxed music for guests to enjoy listening to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and more.
In a majority of receptions, we is asked to provide MC services for the formal portions of the wedding celebrations. This Private Residence Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The bride and groom's first dance is traditionally one of the most emotional parts of the wedding day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the wedding finished, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After a quick break, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
East Coast Soul dance performances often start with older material. We've found this is a great way to get folks up on the dance floor with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into playing tunes by artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Abby & Josh for having us at their beautiful August wedding at Private Residence! And thank you to Elizabeth LaDuca for sharing these beautiful photos with us!
