An exquisite August wedding at the Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had a night to remember!
East Coast Soul was grateful to be invited to join Megan & Tyler for their stunning Willowdale Estate Wedding in Topsfield, MA.
Preprations for Megan & Tyler's Big Day
Our groundwork for the big day began months in advance, with Megan & Tyler offering a myriad of musical and logistical options with us for the big day (we always leave an excess of time for preparation). Megan & Tyler were happy to be a key part of this advanced planning and super helpful throughout.
Once the big day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Topsfield, MA and took care of the normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Willowdale Estate weddings. Being prepared for load-in and set-up at any given venue is a critical part of our workflow. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is often the case, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to unwind after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by performing a blend of relaxed music for guests to listend to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and more.
In a bulk of celebrations, East Coast Soul is asked to provide MC services for the formal portions of the wedding celebrations. This Willowdale Estate Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The couple's first dance is consistently one of the most emotional parts of the big day. It's an opportunity for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this part of the evening finished, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After as short a break as possible, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble returned to the stage.
East Coast Soul dance performances commonly kick off with vintage material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get guests up on the dance floor with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Sam and Dave, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into performing music by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Megan & Tyler for having us at their beautiful August wedding at Willowdale Estate! And thank you to Brit Perkins Photography for sharing these beautiful photos with us!
