Alison & Matthew's Unforgettable Boston Public Library Wedding
At East Coast Soul, we’re always honored to be part of couples’ special days, and Alison & Matthew’s stunning wedding at the Boston Public Library was no exception. From the early planning stages to the dance-filled celebration, every moment was filled with love and joy.
Introductions and Preparations
Alison & Matthew first connected with us in May 2021, and from the get-go, it was clear that their wedding would be something extraordinary. We collaborated closely with the couple, ensuring that every musical and logistical detail was tailored to their preferences. Their involvement in the planning process was invaluable, making the entire journey a smooth and delightful experience.
As the big day approached, we made our way to Boston, MA, ready to set up for the celebration at the Boston Public Library. Loading in is a crucial part of our process, and we took the time needed to ensure a seamless setup. The library’s unique setup demands a band with experience, and we were up for the challenge.
The Ceremony
Alison & Matthew’s ceremony took place in the enchanting Courtyard at the Boston Public Library. Starting at 7:00 pm, the setting was nothing short of magical. East Coast Soul provided a soulful Solo Piano performance and a Single Mic for speeches. Guests were serenaded with 30 minutes of prelude music featuring artists like Leon Bridges and Ray LaMontagne.
The carefully chosen songs, including Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic” for the processional and Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love” for the bride’s entrance, set the perfect tone for this beautiful occasion. The ceremony concluded with The Band’s “Atlantic City” as the recessional, creating a memorable atmosphere.
Cocktail Hour Elegance
Following the ceremony, guests transitioned to the courtyard for a delightful cocktail hour. Our Sax/Keys/Bass Trio provided a soothing backdrop, featuring classics from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. It was the ideal interlude for everyone to unwind and bask in the joyous atmosphere.
Reception Celebration
As the evening progressed, East Coast Soul took on the role of MC for the formalities. Introducing the couple and their wedding party to Jackie Wilson’s “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher,” the energy was set for a night to remember. The newlyweds, Matthew and Alison Gordon, made their grand entrance to cheers and applause.
Heartfelt Dances
The couple’s first dance, set to Bruce Springsteen’s “If I Should Fall Behind,” was a touching moment that resonated with everyone present. The bride and groom’s parent dances were equally heartwarming, with Alison and her father swaying to Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey” and Matthew sharing a dance with his mother to the same beautiful tune.
Dance Party Extravaganza
The night continued with a dance party tailored to the couple’s tastes. Alison & Matthew’s playlist preferences, ranging from Motown to contemporary hits, kept the dance floor alive. From “Soul Man” to Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” the diverse selection ensured there was something for everyone. The dance floor remained packed, with minimal breaks to maximize the celebration.
Alison & Matthew’s July wedding at the Boston Public Library was truly a magical affair, and we are grateful to have been part of their special day. Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness and joy!
