A beautiful wedding at the The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch in Jeffersonville, VT where East Coast Soul's Atlantic ensemble found it nearly impossible to say goodbye to this particular group of guests!
East Coast Soul was fortunate to be invited to join Caitlin & Benny for their stunning The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch Wedding in Jeffersonville, VT.
Preprations for Caitlin & Benny's Big Day
Our preparations for the big day began many weeks prior, with Caitlin & Benny offering a myriad of musical and logistical options with us for the big day (we always leave an excess of time for preparation). Caitlin & Benny were heavily involved in this advanced planning and a huge asset throughout.
Once the big day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Jeffersonville, VT and moved swiftly through our standard load-in, set up, and sound check process for The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch weddings. Being prepared for load-in and set-up at any given venue is a critical part of our workflow. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
Ceremony
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
Cocktail Hour
As is common, East Coast Soul was asked to provide cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to unwind after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We contribute by providing a blend of relaxed music for guests to enjoy listening to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and more.
Reception
In a bulk of weddings, East Coast Soul is asked to handle MC services for the formal portions of the weddings. This The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch Wedding was no different.
The couple’s First Dance
The bride and groom's first dance is invariably one of the most emotional parts of the big day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the evening complete, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After as short a break as possible, East Coast Soul's Atlantic ensemble returned to the stage.
Dance Party
our shows commonly kick off with vintage material. We've found this is a great way to get guests up on the dance floor with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Marvin Gaye, Sam and Dave, The Temptations, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then moved into playing tunes by artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Caitlin & Benny for having us at their beautiful June wedding at The Barn at Smugglers’ Notch!
