A breathtaking wedding at the Harvard Club of Boston in Boston, MA where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had the guests screaming for an encore!
East Coast Soul was fortunate to be asked to join this beautiful couple for their stunning Harvard Club of Boston Wedding in Boston, MA.
Preprations for the couple's Big Day
Our groundwork for the wedding began many weeks prior, with the bride and groom expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the wedding (we always leave an excess of time for preparation). The bride and groom were heavily involved in this advanced planning and a huge asset throughout.
Once the wedding arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Boston, MA and carried out our normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Harvard Club of Boston weddings. We're often asked about our process for loading in and sound checking at various venues. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is often the case, East Coast Soul was asked to provide cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to unwind after the intense emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by performing a blend of relaxed music for guests to enjoy. In this case, and featured music by artists such as John Coltrane, Miles Davies, and more.
In a majority of weddings, we is asked to provide MC services for the formal portions of the celebrations. This Harvard Club of Boston Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The couple's first dance is consistently one of the most emotional parts of the wedding. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this part of the evening complete, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After as short a break as possible, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
East Coast Soul performances commonly kick off with vintage material. We've found this is a great way to get everyone relaxed and dancing with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into playing tunes by artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to this beautiful couple for having us at their beautiful December wedding at Harvard Club of Boston!
