A Winter Wedding at Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor with East Coast Soul
Kelsie Shea and Andrew Marr closed out 2017 with a high-energy winter wedding at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor — one of Boston’s most iconic waterfront venues. With sweeping skyline views and a spacious ballroom setup, the day blended elegance, personality, and a packed dance floor from start to finish.
East Coast Soul provided live music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and late-night dancing, shaping the soundtrack for every phase of the celebration.
Ceremony in the Grand Ballroom
The ceremony took place in the Grand Ballroom, with the room thoughtfully divided to allow for a seamless transition into the reception. A vocalist and keyboard duo handled both performance and sound, creating an intimate feel within the larger space.
The couple’s ceremony music leaned classic and heartfelt, with a few personal twists woven in.
- Prelude: “At Last” – Etta James, “Into the Mystic” – Van Morrison, “Close to You” – The Carpenters
- Processional: “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” – Elton John
- Bride’s Entrance: “Just the Way You Are” – Bruno Mars
- Special Song: “Hallelujah” – Leonard Cohen (custom lyric edit)
- Recessional: Pirates of the Caribbean Theme (solo keyboard)
Cocktail Hour with Skyline Views
Cocktail hour moved to the Skyline Ballroom, where guests enjoyed harbor and city views while East Coast Soul performed as a guitar and sax duo. The set pulled from jazz standards and familiar favorites across decades — upbeat, classy, and easy to enjoy while mingling.
Reception, Dinner & First Dances
Once the ballroom reopened, the reception kicked off with bridal party introductions before flowing naturally into the couple’s first dance.
First Dance: “Perfect” – Ed Sheeran (recording, custom fade)
Dinner featured a mix of live instrumental music and recorded standards, keeping the energy warm and relaxed while still feeling polished and intentional.
Parent dances followed later in the evening:
- Bride/Father: “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” – Randy Newman
- Groom/Mother: “You’ll Be in My Heart” – Phil Collins
A Full Dance Floor to Close the Night
Once dancing began, the focus was simple: keep the floor full. The band delivered a high-energy mix of funk, pop, soul, and throwback favorites, with plenty of guest requests worked into the set.
Standout moments included:
- “Canned Heat” – Jamiroquai
- “24K Magic” – Bruno Mars
- “Shout” – The Isley Brothers (with groom Andrew joining the band)
The night wrapped up with nonstop dancing and just the right mix of nostalgia and modern hits — a perfect way to end a December wedding on a high note.
