Willowdale Estate Wedding in Topsfield, MA

August 18, 2018

Megan & Tyler

Ensemble: Stax | Eight Piece

Megan and Tyler’s Willowdale Estate wedding was all about the music. From a piano-led courtyard ceremony to balcony jazz for cocktails and a packed tent dance floor, the night leaned hard into 70s and 80s funk, soul, and party hits. Exactly the kind of “dance your ass off” reception they were hoping for.

Megan & Tyler’s Willowdale Estate Wedding in Topsfield, MA

Megan and Tyler came into their Willowdale Estate wedding with a very clear priority: music at the center of everything. From our first notes in the courtyard to the last encore in the tent, the goal was simple—keep the energy high, keep the dance floor full, and send people home talking about how good the band was.

On August 11th, 2018, that’s exactly what happened. The weather cooperated, the timing felt natural, and the vibe in the tent never really settled below “let’s keep this going.”

The Setting: Summer at Willowdale Estate

Willowdale Estate is one of those places that feels familiar and special at the same time. The courtyard, the mansion, the tent—all of it fits together in a way that makes the day feel like one continuous, unfolding event rather than a series of disconnected moments. For Megan and Tyler, that meant their guests moved comfortably from outdoor ceremony to mansion cocktails to tented reception without any big stops or resets.

A classic North Shore summer evening, a tent full of people who were clearly there to celebrate hard, and a couple who truly wanted the band to push the energy—that’s a pretty ideal formula for us.

Ceremony: Piano in the Courtyard

The ceremony took place outdoors at Willowdale, with a rain plan ready for the tent if needed. East Coast Soul covered both sound and performance, keeping things intimate with solo keys. The setup was straightforward—two handheld microphones on stands and a clean, minimal PA—to support the officiant and any spoken moments without overwhelming the space.

Prelude music leaned into the James Taylor universe—acoustic-leaning, melodic, very approachable. It set a relaxed tone as guests arrived, found their seats, and settled into the courtyard.

Processional & Ceremony Songs

Megan and Tyler’s ceremony songs did a nice job of mixing classic wedding choices with a bit of personality:

  • Processional: “Into The Mystic” – Van Morrison
  • Bride’s Entrance: “Canon in D” – Pachelbel
  • Recessional: “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” – Stevie Wonder

“Into The Mystic” on piano brought a soulful, slightly earthy feel to the processional. “Canon in D” kept that nod to tradition for Megan’s entrance, and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” as the reces
