A heartwarming September wedding at the Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc, ME where East Coast Soul's King ensemble had a kickass night of music!
East Coast Soul was fortunate to be asked to join Kayla & Andrew for their stunning Bald Mountain Camps Wedding in Oquossoc, ME.
Preprations for Kayla & Andrew's Big Day
Our planning for the wedding day began well ahead, with Kayla & Andrew expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the wedding day (we always leave an excess of time for preparation). Kayla & Andrew were heavily involved in this advanced planning and incredibly helpful throughout.
Once the wedding day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Oquossoc, ME and carried out our normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Bald Mountain Camps weddings. We get a lot of questions about the logistics of loading in to any given venue. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is often the case, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to unwind after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by performing a blend of relaxed music for guests to listend to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and more.
In a majority of weddings, the band is asked to handle MC services for the formal portions of the weddings. This Bald Mountain Camps Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The newly married couple's first dance is invariably one of the most unforgettable parts of the wedding day. It's an opportunity for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the evening finished, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After as short a break as possible, East Coast Soul's King ensemble circled back to the stage.
our shows often start with older material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get folks relaxed and dancing with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Marvin Gaye, Sam and Dave, The Temptations, and more dominated the outset of our performance. We then moved into performing music by artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Kayla & Andrew for having us at their beautiful September wedding at Bald Mountain Camps! And thank you to Avonne Photography for sharing these beautiful photos with us!
