A Downtown Boston Winter Wedding at Courtyard Marriott with East Coast Soul

Nancy Conner and Andrew Price celebrated their December wedding in the heart of downtown Boston at the Courtyard Marriott on Tremont Street. With a classic ballroom setting and a guest list ready to dance, the evening leaned heavily into timeless soul, Motown, and vintage dance music — with just enough holiday spirit woven in.

East Coast Soul joined the celebration for cocktail hour and reception, shaping a night that felt warm, nostalgic, and full of energy from the very first downbeat.

Cocktail Hour on the Fifth Floor

Cocktail hour took place on the fifth floor of the hotel, where guests gathered in the lobby space overlooking the city. A guitar and sax duo set the tone with laid-back grooves and familiar melodies — easy to enjoy while mingling, but still unmistakably live.

The pairing was a natural fit for the setting and helped ease guests into the evening before the ballroom doors opened.

A High-Energy Ballroom Entrance

The reception kicked off right on time with bridal party introductions over James Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thing,” instantly signaling that this was going to be a dance-forward night. Parents and wedding party entered to big energy before the newlyweds made their entrance.

First Dance & Dinner Flow

The couple’s first dance followed immediately, with East Coast Soul performing a shortened, soulful version of “Into the Mystic.” It was a relaxed, intimate moment that fit beautifully into the evening before dinner service began.

Dinner flowed naturally with live music, toasts from the matron of honor and best man, and a cake cutting toward the end of the meal — all handled without breaking the momentum of the night.

Classic Soul, Motown & Holiday Favorites

Once the dance floor opened, the focus shifted fully to high-energy, vintage-inspired music. The couple requested a strong emphasis on 50s–80s soul, Motown, and classic dance songs, with a few carefully chosen holiday favorites mixed in.

Standout requests included:

  • “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”
  • “Soul Man”
  • “In the Mood”
  • “All I Want for Christmas Is You”

The result was a packed dance floor that spanned generations — familiar, joyful, and impossible to sit out.

A Warm Winter Night to Close the Year

With vintage holiday break music, nonstop dancing, and a room full of guests who clearly loved to move, Nancy and Andrew’s wedding was the kind of winter celebration that feels cozy and electric at the same time.

It was a perfect reminder that great music — especially the classics — never goes out of style.
