An unreal wedding at the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, RI where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble left absolutely everything out on the dance floor!
East Coast Soul was fortunate to be asked to join Cara & Kevin for their stunning Glen Manor House Wedding in Portsmouth, RI.
Preprations for Cara & Kevin's Big Day
Our planning for the wedding began many weeks prior, with Cara & Kevin expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the wedding (preparation is a key part of our process). Cara & Kevin were heavily involved in this advanced planning and a huge asset throughout.
Once the wedding arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Portsmouth, RI and took care of the normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Glen Manor House weddings. Being prepared for load-in and set-up at any given venue is a critical part of our workflow. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
Ceremony
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
Cocktail Hour
As is common, East Coast Soul was asked to provide cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to relax after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by providing a blend of relaxed music for guests to enjoy. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and more.
Reception
In a bulk of celebrations, the band is asked to take care of MC services for the formal portions of the wedding celebrations. This Glen Manor House Wedding was no different.
The couple’s First Dance
The bride and groom's first dance is traditionally one of the most meaningful parts of the wedding. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this part of the evening complete, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After a super brief break, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
Dance Party
our shows commonly kick off with vintage material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get everyone up on the dance floor with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into performing music by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Cara & Kevin for having us at their beautiful October wedding at Glen Manor House!
