A stunning August wedding at the Private Residence in Little Compton, RI where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had a kickass night of music!
East Coast Soul was blessed to be invited to join Lea & Ryan for their stunning Private Residence Wedding in Little Compton, RI.
Preprations for Lea & Ryan's Big Day
Our planning for the wedding day began months in advance, with Lea & Ryan sharing their music and logistical preferences and vision with us for the wedding day (preparation is a key part of our process). Lea & Ryan were heavily involved in this advanced planning and a huge asset throughout.
Once the wedding day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Little Compton, RI and carried out our normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Private Residence weddings. We get a lot of questions about the logistics of loading in to any given venue. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is often the case, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to unwind after the intense emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by providing a blend of relaxed music for guests to enjoy listening to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and more.
In a bulk of receptions, the band is asked to handle MC services for the formal portions of the weddings. This Private Residence Wedding was no different.
The groom and bride’s First Dance
The bride and groom's first dance is traditionally one of the most unforgettable parts of the wedding day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this part of the evening finished, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After as short a break as possible, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
East Coast Soul shows often start with older material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get guests up on the dance floor with songs they know and love. Artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into performing music by artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Lea & Ryan for having us at their beautiful August wedding at Private Residence! And thank you to Wild Souls Studio for sharing these beautiful photos with us!
