A heartwarming December wedding at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown, NY where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had an incredibly time that will *not* soon be forgotten!
East Coast Soul was grateful to be invited to join Claire & Scott for their stunning Otesaga Resort Hotel Wedding in Cooperstown, NY.
Preprations for Claire & Scott's Big Day
Our groundwork for the big day began well ahead, with Claire & Scott expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the big day (we take our preparation process extremely seriously). Claire & Scott were incredibly helpful during this advanced planning and super helpful throughout.
Once the big day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Cooperstown, NY and carried out our normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Otesaga Resort Hotel weddings. Being prepared for load-in and set-up at any given venue is a critical part of our workflow. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is common, East Coast Soul was asked to provide cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to unwind after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by performing a variety of relaxed music for guests to listend to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as John Coltrane, Miles Davies, and more.
In a majority of wedding celebrations, we is asked to provide MC services for the formal portions of the celebrations. This Otesaga Resort Hotel Wedding was no different.
The groom and bride’s First Dance
The couple's first dance is invariably one of the most emotional parts of the big day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this part of the wedding complete, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After a quick break, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
East Coast Soul shows commonly kick off with vintage material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get guests up on the dance floor with songs they know and love. Artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into playing tunes by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Claire & Scott for having us at their beautiful December wedding at Otesaga Resort Hotel! And thank you to Korver Photography for sharing these beautiful photos with us!
