Pelham House Resort Wedding in Dennis Port, Massachusetts
Venue: Pelham House Resort, Dennis Port, MA
Date: August 15th, 2015
Couple:
Ensemble: East Coast Soul – King Ensemble (7-Piece)
Lindsey & Damian’s Pelham House Resort wedding was everything you dream of on Cape Cod—ocean views, sea breeze, a joyful crowd, and a dance floor that never slowed down. With an oceanside ceremony, a jazz-forward cocktail hour, a wild Hora, and a high-energy dance party under the tent, this celebration had all the makings of a classic ECS summer wedding.
Getting Ready at the Pelham House Resort
The band arrived early for an afternoon load-in, with backline set at 1:30 p.m., the full ensemble on site by 3:00, and soundcheck at 3:30. Pelham House Resort is one of Cape Cod’s most iconic waterfront venues, and its tented reception space overlooking Nantucket Sound provided an incredible backdrop for the evening.
Clear communication from the venue team, along with wedding coordinator Connie Nye Clark and property manager John McCarthy, kept everything running smoothly as we transitioned through multiple performance locations throughout the day.
Ceremony on the Lawn
The ceremony took place directly on the lawn beside the tent with the Atlantic just beyond. ECS provided ceremony sound reinforcement with one wireless microphone for officiant and readings. No live performance was required, keeping the moment calm and intimate.
As guests made their way toward cocktail hour, “This Must Be The Place” by Talking Heads played through the main PA—an upbeat, meaningful recessional choice that instantly set a celebratory tone.
Cocktail Hour by the Water
Cocktail hour took place right next to the tent, overlooking the ocean. East Coast Soul provided a guitar/sax duo performing jazz standards and classic swing—perfect for a breezy early-evening gathering on the Cape.
If weather became an issue, the plan was to move into the tent, but the sky stayed clear and the full Atlantic view stayed wide open throughout the hour.
A High-Energy Reception Kickoff
The reception began at 6:45 with lively introductions over Sam & Dave’s “I Thank You,” setting the stage for a fun, upbeat evening. Lindsey & Damian entered to cheers:
“And now for the first time as husband and wife, Damian and Lindsey!”
Next came three meaningful dances performed live by ECS:
- First Dance: “By Your Side” – Sade (shortened live performance)
- Bride/Father: “Isn’t She Lovely” – Stevie Wonder (shortened)
- Groom/Mother: “How Sweet It Is” – Marvin Gaye (guests invited to join after ~1 minute)
These heartfelt choices brought warmth and emotion to the early part of the evening before guests settled in for dinner.
Dinner, Toasts & Ocean Views
Dinner took place under the main tent from 7:10 to 7:45, with vendor meals occurring at the same time. The evening’s toasts—delivered by the Father of the Bride, Maid of Honor, and Best Man—were heartfelt and personal. No emcee support was needed, keeping the microphone time simple and true to the couple’s wishes.
The sun began to set over the ocean just as dinner wrapped, giving the tent a warm glow and setting the stage for one of the night’s biggest musical moments.
The Hora: A Wild 10 Minutes on the Cape
At 7:45, it was Hora time—and this crowd came prepared.
Marcus (saxophonist and bandleader for the evening) kicked off the melody, and within seconds, the dance floor ignited. Chairs went up, the circle tightened, and the energy skyrocketed as Lindsey & Damian were lifted joyfully overhead.
We extended the music for a few extra choruses once the room hit peak energy before cueing a big finish—definitely one of the standout moments of the night.
The Dance Party: Cape Cod Goes Off
From 7:55 until 10:00 (with one short break), East Coast Soul delivered a powerhouse performance featuring the couple’s must-play selections:
- Michael Jackson
- Paul Simon
- Chaka Khan – “Tell Me Something Good”
- Hall & Oates – “You Make My Dreams Come True”
- “Uptown Funk”
- Backstreet Boys – “I Want It That Way”
- “Crazy In Love” – Beyoncé
The couple also had a few “absolutely not” selections—including “We Are Family,” “YMCA,” and “Electric Slide”—to avoid anything too Bar Mitzvah-adjacent. Those boundaries helped shape a playlist that felt modern, soulful, energetic, and personalized to their taste.
The dance floor stayed packed until the final note, with the ocean breeze blowing in through the sides of the tent and the Cape Cod night sky overhead.
A Perfect Cape Cod Celebration
Lindsey & Damian’s Pelham House Resort wedding was the perfect blend of romance, energy, and oceanfront beauty. From the emotional first dances to the wild Hora to the nonstop dancing, the night was full of unforgettable moments.
Congratulations to Lindsey & Damian, and thank you for having East Coast Soul at your beautiful Cape Cod wedding!
