An incredible May wedding at the Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, MA where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had an incredibly time that will *not* soon be forgotten!
East Coast Soul was grateful to be asked to join Maura & Brian for their stunning Willowbend Country Club Wedding in Mashpee, MA.
Preprations for Maura & Brian's Big Day
Our planning for the wedding day began months in advance, with Maura & Brian sharing their music and logistical preferences and vision with us for the wedding day (we always leave an excess of time for preparation). Maura & Brian were incredibly helpful during this advanced planning and a huge asset throughout.
Once the wedding day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Mashpee, MA and took care of the normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Willowbend Country Club weddings. Our process for loading in and setting up at any given venue is a big part of our preparation process. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
As is often the case, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to relax after the intense emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by performing a blend of relaxed music for guests to listend to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and more.
In a majority of receptions, the band is asked to take care of MC services for the formal portions of the receptions. This Willowbend Country Club Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The couple's first dance is traditionally one of the most meaningful parts of the wedding day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the wedding complete, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After as short a break as possible, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble returned to the stage.
East Coast Soul shows commonly kick off with vintage material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get guests relaxed and dancing with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into playing tunes by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Maura & Brian for having us at their beautiful May wedding at Willowbend Country Club! And thank you to Heather Chick Photography for sharing these beautiful photos with us!
