Sebasco Harbor Resort Wedding in Phippsburg, Maine

There’s something extraordinary about weddings on the coast of Maine, and Sebasco Harbor Resort is one of those places that immediately feels both relaxed and magical. When Dawn and Rick invited East Coast Soul to celebrate with them at this beautiful waterfront property in Phippsburg, we knew it was going to be an unforgettable night. Sea air, soft August light, and a joyful couple ready to celebrate — the perfect combination.

From a smooth jazz dinner set to a high-energy dance floor overlooking the harbor, this wedding captured everything we love about performing in Maine.

Getting Ready at Sebasco Harbor Resort

Our team arrived early in the day after a scenic drive up the Maine coastline, landing at Sebasco Harbor Resort for load-in and soundcheck. With the Daptone ensemble performing for the reception, we traveled with a full eight-piece lineup — vocals, horns, rhythm section, and keys — ready to bring the dance floor to life.

The resort’s layout makes setup smooth: tucked along the harbor with open-air pathways and sweeping views, it’s a venue that always feels welcoming. We completed soundcheck in the late afternoon, timed perfectly as guests began arriving for cocktails.

Ceremony & Cocktail Hour

East Coast Soul was not part of the ceremony, which took place onsite, allowing the couple to shape that portion of the day exactly the way they envisioned it. As guests transitioned into cocktail hour along the harbor, the resort’s natural beauty set the scene—sailboats in the distance, soft ocean breezes, and the relaxed warmth that defines coastal Maine.

While we didn’t perform during cocktails, the atmosphere was lively and full of anticipation for the evening ahead.

Reception Introductions

Once guests made their way to the reception space, East Coast Soul kicked things off with formal introductions. Family members and the wedding party were announced, including:

  • Parents of the Bride: Mr. & Mrs. J.P. & Katherine Devine
  • Flower Bearer: Isabella Sieloff (“sea-loff”)
  • Groomsmen: Marc Clebanoff and Daniel Brodo
  • Best Man: William Sieloff
  • Bridesmaids: Ellen Endres (“en-dress”) and Cheryl Nowicki
  • Maid of Honor: Jillana Devine

Finally, Dawn and Rick entered the room to a burst of applause, setting a celebratory tone that carried through the entire evening.

Dinner Music Overlooking the Harbor

This couple specifically requested a dedicated dinner performance, so the band shifted into jazz combo mode — keys, bass, drums, and tenor sax — creating a sophisticated, relaxed backdrop as guests enjoyed their meal. Classic jazz standards and soulful instrumental arrangements filled the room, enhancing the warm, coastal ambiance without overpowering conversation.

With heartfelt toasts from the Best Man, Maid of Honor, and the bride’s parents, dinner felt personal, intimate, and full of laughter.

A High-Energy Dance Floor Under the Maine Sky

When dinner concluded, the Daptone ensemble returned to full strength and launched into the dance set. As always, we opened with vintage soul — a perfect way to bring every generation to the floor. Early favorites included Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady,” Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up,” and other timeless classics that always spark instant movement.

From there, the energy kept building. We worked our way through Motown, funk, and high-powered soul before shifting into modern hits that had everyone singing along. A few key requests from the couple shaped the set list, including:

  • Earth, Wind & Fire – September
  • Pharrell Williams – Happy
  • John Legend – All of Me

Guests danced nonstop all night, and we kept breaks short to make sure the momentum never dipped. Sebasco Harbor Resort’s beautiful waterfront setting made the entire evening feel open, joyful, and full of life.

A Memorable Night in Phippsburg, Maine

This Sebasco Harbor Resort wedding was a highlight of the season — full of heart, incredible energy, and an unforgettable group of friends and family who came ready to celebrate. Performing with the harbor as our backdrop made the evening feel especially magical.

We’re so grateful to Dawn and Rick for inviting East Coast Soul to be part of their beautiful August wedding!
