A charming wedding at the York Harbor Reading Room in York, ME where East Coast Soul's King ensemble had the guests screaming for an encore!
Testimonial
"When you are a destination bride, choosing vendors is stressful and nerve wracking! In selecting East Coast Soul, I basically went off of online reviews, YouTube videos and conversations with the band director (?). I am so glad we chose them and COULD NOT have been happier! Not only was the band director incredibly easy to communicate with, flexible and reliable, the band was outstanding! Everything went according to the questionnaire we filled out a few weeks before and they were lively and high energy. We had a small wedding (75 guests) and I was worried about the dance floor being "dead" the whole time. This was not the case. East Coast Soul did an incredible job keeping everyone dancing!"

East Coast Soul was grateful to be asked to join Lizzie & Bobby for their stunning York Harbor Reading Room Wedding in York, ME.
Preprations for Lizzie & Bobby's Big Day
Our groundwork for the wedding day began many weeks prior, with Lizzie & Bobby expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the wedding day (we take our preparation process extremely seriously). Lizzie & Bobby were heavily involved in this advanced planning and incredibly helpful throughout.
Once the wedding day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to York, ME and began our standard load-in and sound check for York Harbor Reading Room weddings. Being prepared for load-in and set-up at any given venue is a critical part of our workflow. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
Ceremony
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
Cocktail Hour
As is common, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a great opportunity for the bride and groom to relax after the intense emotions of the ceremony. We contribute by performing a variety of relaxed music for guests to enjoy listening to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and more.
Reception
In a lion's share of weddings, East Coast Soul is asked to take care of MC services for the formal portions of the wedding celebrations. This York Harbor Reading Room Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The groom and bride's first dance is almost always one of the most unforgettable parts of the wedding day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the wedding finished, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After a super brief break, East Coast Soul's King ensemble returned to the stage.
Dance Party
our dance performances commonly kick off with vintage material. We've found this is a great way to get folks relaxed and dancing with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Sam and Dave, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then transitioned into playing tunes by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to Lizzie & Bobby for having us at their beautiful September wedding at York Harbor Reading Room!
