Autumn Lane Estate Wedding in Sebago, Maine

Venue: The Estate at Autumn Lane, Sebago, ME

Band: East Coast Soul – King Ensemble

Couple: Victoria & Colin • Date: October 15, 2022

If you’re dreaming about a Maine barn wedding that still feels polished, cozy, and a little bit magical, The Estate at Autumn Lane in Sebago is one of those places that just makes sense. It’s tucked away near Sebago Lake, surrounded by fields, trees, and big sky, but the property is intentionally designed for weddings – from the ceremony lawn to the barn and patio – so the whole day flows really naturally.

For Victoria and Colin’s celebration, East Coast Soul’s King Ensemble was along for the ride from “I do” to last song, and we got to see firsthand how this Sebago, Maine venue turns into a full-on fall weekend hangout spot for family and friends.

A Maine Barn Wedding Venue with Lakeside Energy

The Estate at Autumn Lane sits just a short drive from Sebago Lake, and it has that relaxed, rural Maine energy without feeling too rustic. Guests arrive down a quiet drive, step out to views of fields and trees, and then everything they need is right there: ceremony space, barn, patio, lawn, and plenty of room to wander during cocktail hour.

For couples planning a destination wedding in Maine, Sebago is a sweet spot. It’s close enough to Portland and the surrounding area for out-of-towners to get in and out easily, but far enough into the lakes region that it still feels like a getaway. Autumn Lane leans into that vibe – it’s a “weekend with our favorite people” kind of venue.

Ceremony at The Estate at Autumn Lane

Victoria and Colin’s ceremony took place on the grounds of The Estate at Autumn Lane, with the barn and landscape framing the whole moment. The couple leaned into a mix of formal and fun for their music choices, which fit the space perfectly.

Prelude music drew from both classical and Motown-inspired tunes, a nod to their love of vintage soul with a little bit of wedding-day tradition. For the processional, they chose an acoustic take on “What a Man Gotta Do” by Jonas Brothers – playful, upbeat, and very them.

One of the coolest details of the day was the bride’s entrance. Victoria’s nephew, who’s a skilled pianist, played an instrumental version of “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele. It was one of those “everyone gets quiet and just takes it in” moments – a family member at the keys, Sebago light in the background, and all eyes on the bride.

For the recessional, the couple chose the “Top Gun Anthem” by Harold Faltermeyer, which was an absolutely inspired move. After vows, tears, and all the emotion, sending everyone out with a movie-theme power moment was just pure joy.

Cocktail Hour on the Patio in Sebago, Maine

Right after the ceremony, guests headed to the patio adjacent to the barn for cocktail hour. It’s one of our favorite spaces on the property: open air, pretty views, and just enough room for guests to spread out without losing that “we’re all in this together” feel.

East Coast Soul provided live music here, leaning into a Motown-style cocktail hour – think soul, groove, and familiar tunes that people hum along to while they grab a drink and catch up with old friends. The patio setup at Autumn Lane works especially well for this kind of thing, with easy access back to the barn if the weather decides to go full “Maine” on you.

In the event of rain, cocktail hour can shift inside the barn without losing any of the atmosphere. The Estate at Autumn Lane has clearly thought through their rain plans, which makes life easier on couples and vendors alike.

Dinner in the Barn with Maine Barbecue

The reception moved into the barn at The Estate at Autumn Lane, a space that strikes a really nice balance between rustic and refined. Wood beams, warm lighting, and clean lines make it feel special without being stuffy – perfect for a night that includes both heartfelt speeches and serious dancing.

Introductions rolled in to “6’s to 9’s” by Big Wild, and the room immediately felt like a party. Dinner followed, with Noble Barbecue (from Fire & Company) serving up barbecue that felt very on brand for a Maine barn wedding: relaxed, generous, and absolutely delicious.

Victoria and Colin opted for recorded music during dinner, which is a great option at this venue if you prefer to keep the focus on conversations and speeches while everyone enjoys the meal.

First Dance on the Patio

One detail we loved about this wedding: the first dance took place on the patio after dinner, under the open sky. Victoria and Colin chose “At Last” by Etta James, played from a recording – a classic that always hits, and it felt especially right outdoors in the cool October air.

Having the first dance outside created a natural “reset” between dinner and dancing. Guests drifted out to watch, gathered around the couple, and then moved smoothly back into the barn when it was time for the full band to kick things into gear.

Parent Dances and Personal Moments

Before opening up the dance floor, Victoria and Colin made time for parent dances – another set of moments that landed beautifully in the barn at Autumn Lane.

Victoria and her dad danced to “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw, while Colin and his mom danced to “She’s Got a Way” by Billy Joel. Both were played from recordings, which worked perfectly here: simple, classic, and focused on the connection between each parent and child.

There was no formal spotlighted cake cutting – just a “let’s keep the party rolling” approach, which fit the couple and the venue’s easygoing energy really well.

Building a Dance Floor Set for a Maine Barn Wedding

Once the full band kicked off around 7:30 PM, the barn turned into exactly what you want at a Sebago, Maine wedding: people barefoot on the dance floor, big sing-alongs, and that mix of elegance and “we’re at camp with our favorite people” energy.

Victoria and Colin’s tastes leaned toward a vintage-heavy mix – Motown, classic rock, funk, and soul, with some modern favorites sprinkled in. They shared a detailed request list with us ahead of time, and we pulled from that along with our own catalog to keep the floor full until the venue’s strict 10:30 PM cutoff.

The Estate at Autumn Lane is a great space for a live band: the barn has the right kind of acoustics, the patio offers a breather when guests need air, and the overall layout makes it easy for people to move between hanging out and going all-in on the dance floor.

Why We Love The Estate at Autumn Lane for Live Music

From a band’s perspective, The Estate at Autumn Lane is one of those venues in the Maine lakes region that just works. Load-in is straightforward, there’s reliable power at all the key locations (ceremony, patio, barn), and the team on site knows how to run a wedding day smoothly.

If you’re planning a Sebago, Maine wedding, this venue gives you a little bit of everything: outdoor ceremony options, a proper barn for dinner and dancing, a patio for cocktails and first dances, and that “we’ve all retreated to the woods together” feeling that people remember long after the weekend is over.

East Coast Soul’s King Ensemble was genuinely honored to be part of Victoria and Colin’s day here. From the nephew’s piano performance to Big Wild intros, Motown cocktails, and a packed barn dance floor, it was the best kind of Maine fall wedding – warm, personal, and full of music.
