An inspiring wedding at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, ME where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had a kickass night of music!
East Coast Soul was grateful to be invited to join this beautiful couple for their stunning Stone Mountain Arts Center Wedding in Brownfield, ME.
Preprations for the couple's Big Day
Our planning for the wedding day began well ahead, with the bride and groom expressing a variety of musical and logistical preferences with us for the wedding day (we take our preparation process extremely seriously). The bride and groom were incredibly helpful during this advanced planning and super helpful throughout.
Once the wedding day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Brownfield, ME and carried out our normal load-in, set up, and sound check process for Stone Mountain Arts Center weddings. We get a lot of questions about the logistics of loading in to any given venue. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
Ceremony
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
Cocktail Hour
As is common, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to relax after the heightened emotions of the ceremony. We do our part by performing a blend of relaxed music for guests to enjoy. In this case, and featured music by artists such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and more.
Reception
In a majority of wedding celebrations, the band is asked to take care of MC services for the formal portions of the celebrations. This Stone Mountain Arts Center Wedding was no different.
The couple’s First Dance
The couple's first dance is invariably one of the most meaningful parts of the wedding day. It's an opportunity for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the evening complete, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After a quick break, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
Dance Party
East Coast Soul dance performances commonly kick off with vintage material. We've found this is a great way to get everyone relaxed and dancing with songs they're familiar with. Artists like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then moved into playing tunes by artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to this beautiful couple for having us at their beautiful August wedding at Stone Mountain Arts Center!
