A lovely wedding at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, ME where East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble had a night to remember!
East Coast Soul was fortunate to be brought to join this beautiful couple for their stunning Stone Mountain Arts Center Wedding in Brownfield, ME.
Preprations for the couple's Big Day
Our planning for the big day began many weeks prior, with the bride and groom sharing their music and logistical preferences and vision with us for the big day (preparation is a key part of our process). The bride and groom were happy to be a key part of this advanced planning and super helpful throughout.
Once the big day arrived, East Coast Soul traveled to Brownfield, ME and began our standard load-in and sound check for Stone Mountain Arts Center weddings. Our process for loading in and setting up at any given venue is a big part of our preparation process. This is a part of the day that we take seriously, spending extra time to avoid rushing, and ensuring our gear is properly tuned for the room.
Ceremony
In this case, East Coast Soul was not involved with couple's ceremony, with those arrangements having already been taken care of.
Cocktail Hour
As is often the case, East Coast Soul was requested to perform cocktail hour music. Cocktail hour is a wonderful chance for the bride and groom to unwind after the intense emotions of the ceremony. We contribute by providing a blend of relaxed music for guests to listend to. In this case, and featured music by artists such as John Coltrane, Miles Davies, and more.
Reception
In a majority of wedding celebrations, East Coast Soul is asked to provide MC services for the formal portions of the weddings. This Stone Mountain Arts Center Wedding was no different.
The bride and groom’s First Dance
The newly married couple's first dance is almost always one of the most unforgettable parts of the big day. It's a chance for the bride and groom to take a moment for themselves. With this portion of the evening finished, the guests and vendors took a break for dinner. After a quick break, East Coast Soul's Stax ensemble circled back to the stage.
Dance Party
our performances often start with older material. We've discovered this is an excellent approach to get folks relaxed and dancing with songs they know and love. Artists like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Sam and Dave, and more dominated the beginning of our set list. We then moved into performing music by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and more. Finally, we ended the night performing contemporary material that everyone could sing along with.
Guests danced non-stop from beginning to end, and we limited our breaks to ensure people had as much time to dance as possible.
Thanks so much to this beautiful couple for having us at their beautiful August wedding at Stone Mountain Arts Center!
